David Chapin

EDUCATION Cornell School of Architecture, 1938-1941. United States Navy, 1942-1946. Studied with Hans Hoffman, 1947-1948. Taught Painting and Design at Illinois Wesleyan University, 1949-1952. Two summers in Mexico, 1949-1951. To Europe, 1952, took up residence near Rome. Lived there until 1955. Travelled extensively throughout the Mediterranean area visiting Sicily, Spain, Portugal, North Africa, Greece, Crete, Istanbul, and Egypt. To England 1955, established residence near Cambridge. Frequent trips to France, Germany, Austria, Scandinavian countries. To New York City 1958 where he lived, worked the remainder of his life while also teaching at Princeton University.
